|Landscape Design:Design Team|
Our landscape designers know what's going to work in your yard before we develop your design, because we do a site specific analysis. We evaluate soils and grades, available space and light, examine existing plants and surroundings for picture perfect possibilities. They create designs compatible with your lifestyle.
Horticulturist, Certified Arborist
I grew up in Milwaukee learning gardening and a love for the outdoors with my grandfather, that experience developed into a career in horticulture. Now with a family of my own, I share this knowledge and love of nature with my two young daughters.
Since 1992 I have worked diligently to build a trusting reputation and relationship with my clients going above and beyond their expectations. My ability to listen to the needs and desires of each individual involved in a landscape project allows me to creatively integrate all the necessities while still developing a unique landscape. My desire for more diverse landscapes has motivated me to seek out unknown and underused plants from dwarf conifers to native perennials and outstanding trees that provide beauty in all seasons and for decades to come.
I hold a degree in Landscape Horticulture and I am also a certified arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture and a member of the Wisconsin Arborists Association. I have completed the Master Gardener training with UW Extension. I have volunteered to lead programs at Boerner Botanical Gardens and other venues on topics that have included crabapples, grasses, and underused landscape plants. I have also done volunteer work with UW-Extension and the Master Gardner Program designing community gardens in Milwaukee.
I like to spend my free time with my children gardening, and teaching them about the environment around them. I also enjoy fishing, hiking and traveling. I look forward to helping you create and maintain your unique landscape.
Horticulturist, Landscape Designer
Retail Design Supervisor
I grew up in southern Wisconsin, just one mile from my grandparents’ dairy farm. Being able to run freely around the rolling hills and farmland of Green County instilled a deep love of nature at an early age. But it wasn’t until my parents gave me my own raised bed in our family vegetable garden and for flowers and herbs that I realized a whole world of horticultural potential!
As the Retail department’s lead Horticulturist and Designer, it is my mission to approach each client’s landscape needs with enthusiasm and to help make their landscape a unique reflection of their own aesthetics, whether they just need a single shade tree installed or a complete redesign. As a professional horticulturist and designer, I enjoy speaking publicly on a variety of horticultural topics to local garden clubs, libraries, and educational institutions.
In my spare time, I like working in my own garden, creating new & exciting container displays with each changing season, reading, hiking, trying new recipes, visiting new places, and going to Brewers games with my husband.
My name is Jillian Zetting, and on behalf of Johnson’s Nursery, I would like the opportunity to assist you with your landscaping needs. I am a horticulturist, landscape designer, and project manager, and I have worked with Johnson’s for the past 18 years, starting out as a landscape foreman, installing and maintaining thousands of beautiful landscapes. My passion for plants and desire to help people create great outdoor spaces inspired me to pursue a career in landscape design.
I truly enjoy the entire landscape design process - meeting with new and existing clients, designing the plan, and using plant material that best suits their garden and outdoor living areas. I especially like the installation phase - where the design becomes reality. And the continued relationship with my clients when they return for additions and maintenance for their gardens is truly rewarding.
While I take pride in designing with all of the plants available at Johnson’s Nursery, I have become fascinated by the unique qualities of Wisconsin’s native plants. We grow and sell literally hundreds of native species. I assisted in writing and publishing the Johnson’s Nursery comprehensive guidebook, Native Plants for Wisconsin Landscapes. My native plant blog allows me to present information about my favorite native topics.
If you are ready to start a new outdoor garden or landscape project, or are in need of assistance with your existing landscape, please contact me. I look forward to assisting you with all of your landscaping needs.
